In late November, Long An Province in southern Vietnam is gearing up to welcome around one million visitors for its second annual Culture, Sports, and Tourism Week. The event promises a diverse range of activities, with a notable participation from South Korea.

During a press conference on Tuesday, the provincial administration revealed that the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Week will take place from November 28 to December 4.

Nguyen Thanh Thanh, the director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, shared that this year’s week-long festivities will include 11 major events. Highlights will feature an opening ceremony, a conference promoting tourism and the One Commune One Product initiative, with participation from Ho Chi Minh City and 13 Mekong Delta provinces.

The program will also showcase a Long An – South Korea trade and culinary fair, cultural exchange zones, sports competitions, and a music festival.

Hoang Dinh Can, head of the provincial Commission for Propaganda and Education, emphasized that the second edition of the event features a wider scope, with additional sports competitions and key collaborations with South Korea. These partnerships aim to showcase Long An’s cultural heritage while also highlighting the rich traditions of Korean regions.

South Korea will play a key role in several events, including the trade fair, where it will occupy nearly a third of the 300 available booths.

A number of South Korean golfers are set to participate in the Long An – South Korea Friendship Golf Tournament, while South Korean businesses and music groups will be involved in investment and entertainment activities, such as the ‘HITE JINRO FESTIVAL 2024.’

Currently, South Korea ranks as the third-largest foreign direct investor in Long An, with over US$1 billion invested in 216 projects.

Additionally, Thanh unveiled a series of sports events during the week-long celebration, including a marathon at the Waterpoint Ben Luc urban area, the Long An Open Bodybuilding Championship, martial arts exhibitions, and the first-ever three-plank boat race on the Vam Co River, a renowned natural landmark in the province.

Thanh also shared that the province is fully prepared to accommodate around one million visitors with these dynamic events and a packed schedule.
