Vietnam World Masters Heads to Danang

Danang, Vietnam: One of Asia’s most compelling golf destinations will return to the spotlight in September when the fifth AccorHotels Vietnam World Masters takes place in Danang.

Sponsored by AccorHotels, the tournament – from September 8-14 – will showcase the various elements that have made the city and its surrounding area such a hub for those who love the Royal and Ancient game.

Not only can golfers look forward to excellent, highly-trained caddies – all wearing the traditional Vietnamese conical hat – but also on the menu are outstanding local cuisine and first-class beachside accommodation at the Pullman Danang Beach Resort, the main partner hotel for the event.

Competitors will be able to enjoy the numerous highlights of Central Vietnam, which range from outstanding beaches to the UNESCO-heritage listed ancient town of Hoi An. There’s also golf at the event’s three participating clubs – Ba Na Hills, Montgomerie Links and BRG Danang Golf Club, a Golf Course Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“Central Vietnam is one of my favourite spots to play golf in the region,” said Mark Siegel, Managing Director of Golfasian, a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation. “There’s everything from traditional links-style golf to tropical garden-style layouts. Not only are there the golf courses, but the area has a host of other compelling draws for tourists including great hotels, fine cuisine, amazing beaches and warm, welcoming people.”

One of the most fast-paced countries in Southeast Asia, Vietnam is famed for its energy. And, nowhere is this sense of perpetual forward motion more apparent than in Central Vietnam.

With high quality layouts designed by some of the biggest names in golf architecture along with vibrant cities, incredible beaches and hotels as well as an enviable infrastructure, the area already has a reputation as one of Asia’s most complete golf destinations.

Sumptuous resorts and luxury real estate dominate the foreshore while world-class golf layouts claim the hinterland.

These courses vary wildly in style.

Laid out in rolling foothills, Ba Na Hills features natural elevation changes, ravines, streams and mountain backdrops.

Further south, on the strip between Danang and Hoi An, Montgomerie Links – designed by Scotsman Colin Montgomerie – offers expansive bunkers and numerous water hazards.

Its neighbour, BRG Danang Golf Club, meanwhile, has established itself as one of the finest tracks in Asia since debuting in 2010. The course, created by Greg Norman, Vietnam’s Tourism Ambassador, is built on sandy loam soil with holes proceeding through rugged dunes and funnels of long-needle pine trees.

Off course, Danang is equally compelling while the opening in 2017 of a new international terminal at the airport further expanded its appeal. It’s estimated that the new terminal plus other expansion plans will boost the airport’s total capacity to 13 million passengers by 2020.
