Tourism has been considered a key economic industry of Viet Nam. Over the past year, the Government of Viet Nam has issued a spate of important policies covering visa facilitation and improvement of the tourism development environment to further develop tourism in the new international context.
Viet Nam positioned as one of the most alluring destinations in Southeast Asia with a total of 15.5 million travellers or 20% increase in tourism arrivals in 2018. There has seen the greatest growth in tourism arrivals from the North Asia (nearly 5 million from China with 23.9% increase, 3.5 million from Republic of Korea with 30,4% increase, 827,000 from Japan with 3.6% increase, ASEAN and European markets (298,000 from UK with 5.1% increase, 280,000 from France with 9.5% increase, 606,000 from Russia with 5.7% increase and 214,000 from Germany with 7.1% increase) respectively.
2018 was the year with a lot of important tourism events. Vietnam Tourism received many international awards – The Asia Leading Tourism Destination 2018 by World Travel Awards; The Asia’s Best Golf Destination by World Golf Awards; the first Tourism Summit was organized on 5th and 6th December in Ha Noi, the 15 million international visitors welcoming event on 18th December, also an important image for the Vietnam Tourism.
