Phoenix Golf Resort located in Yongbong Village, Long Son district, and is 38km away from Hanoi city. It is a truly breathtaking set up with limestone rock configurations, some with the image of a dragon and a phoenix, so it is called HaLong Bay of the land.
Construction work began in March 2005, and the golf resort with 54 holes is the largest golf resort in the country, and after Mission Hills in China is the 2nd largest in South East Asia. The same company also owns the famous Yanji Hailanlake Golf Resort in China.
Phoenix Golf Resort was another masterpiece designed by Ronald Fream of USA, plus Korean and Japanese international golf course designers with a characteristic of each country. Blake Handerson of USA, Datzgawa of Japan and the best Korean landscapers put a lot of effort to protect both nature and the environment, resulting in some beautiful views.
The club hosted the World Masters Vietnam Competition with 142 professional golfers from 27 countries in 2007.
The three courses named Phoenix, Dragon and Master are all excellent. If you enjoy a links style layout then head for the Master, while the other two are more mountainous. All are exciting and offer a great golfing experience, but for pure spectacle do test your skills on their Dragon course.
Ideal for the high handicappers but dramatic and intense, the Dragon’s front nine are exceptional while the back nine gradually descend to the 18th through a deep watery ravine.
It can get a bit busy at weekends, however overall definitely a few Kodak moments to savour across their 54 holes. The clubhouse is even made of Italian internal marble here, however is not one of the best for service, so maybe you should consider heading back to Hanoi 75 minutes away for your meal.
