Lam Dong to host Ladies Amateur Open
More than 100 golfers will participate in the fourth Viet Nam Ladies Amateur Open to be held on October 30 at Da Lat Palace Golf Club in Lam Dong Province.
The tournament will use the competition format of 36 holes of stroke play over two days and all golfers will play off the red tees. The player with the best gross result after two days of competition will be the winner.
The players will be divided into three divisions of Viet Nam National Champion Division (only for Vietnamese citizens), International Division and Senior Division.
In addition to the main prize, the organisers will also present other prizes such as the team prize and the net prize.
Sixteen-year-old Nguyen Thao My won the title last year.
Marksman Vinh falls short
Marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh lost in the final of the men’s 25m centre fire pistol at the sixth CISM Military World Games in South Korea yesterday, Oct 7.
The gold medal went to Dikec Yusuf of Turkey, the silver to Klimov Alexey of Russia, while Chinese Jin Yongde took the bronze medal.
Vinh, 41, broke the world record in the men’s 10m air pistol with 202.87 points at the World Cup Fort Benning 2014 in the US.
Today, Viet Nam competes in the women’s singles and team’s 50m rifle 3×20 event.
Viet Nam are entered in six events: shooting, boxing, swimming, judo, taekwondo and volleyball in this multi-sport tournament organised every four years, one year before the Olympic Games.
OCA co-ordination meeting held
The first Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Co-ordination Committee meeting for the fifth Asian Beach Games 2016 was held in Da Nang on Tuesday.
OCA’s honourary life vice president Wei Jizhong, chairman of the National Sports Administration and standing vice chairman of the event’s organising committee, Vuong Bich Thang attended the meeting.
Topics discussed included accreditation, protocol, marketing, promotion, TV, information technology and volunteers, with plans for 1,600 volunteers to be recruited for the games.
The fifth edition of the OCA’s sand and sea sports festival will take place from September 24 to October 3 next year, and feature about 5,000 athletes and officials from the OCA’s 45 National Olympic Committees.
There will be 14 sports, 22 disciplines and 172 events, with athletes being accommodated in hotels near their own sports at one of four venue clusters to enable them to walk to training and competition venues.
