The PGA Tour’s Ho Tram Open 2015 will begin at the Bluffs Ho Tram Strip in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province on Thursday with 132 golfers.
Strong players competing at the event from December 3-6 include world’s No. 12 Sergio Garcia of Spain, Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland, Europe’s captain at 2016 Ryder Cup and Y.E Yang of South Korea, who beat Tiger Woods at the US PGA Championships 2009.
Other popular names include Geoff Ogilvy of Australia and Oliver Wilsoon and Robert Rock from the UK.
Tran Le Duy Nhat, also known as Michael Tran, will be the only Vietnamese to compete. Nhat is the first Vietnamese playing winning an Asian event when he claimed the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament in Indonesia in August.
Garcia said this is the first time he competes in Vietnam: “When I heard about Vietnam, and what was happening here in Ho Tram especially, I was excited because I’ve also never been to this part of Asia.”

“So there was never any, ‘Should I go or should I not?’ It was a very easy decision,” he said.
With total rewards of US$1.5 million, Ho Tram Open will have the third highest rewards in the Asian Tour, after Malaysia Open and Thailand Classic.
The tournament will be broadcast live in 180 countries and territories with an expected 625 million viewers.
In Vietnam, it will be telecast on VTV6 and K+.
